Description
Ayahuasca Chayana - The Arrival of Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca chayana means the arrival of ayahuasca, and refers to the onset of visions when spirits come to orchestrate the mystical setting of the ceremony. They are seen here emerging from the earthenware pot with chacruna leaves.
Dressed in brilliant vests made of scales like armour, they shield the maestros from the malignant chants and darts of sorcerers. The puma machacos (snakes with the skin of a jaguar) emit rainbow coloured arkanas which encircle the ayahuasca ceremony and deflect any sorcery.
