Artist's Description
Floripés embodies the hidden mysteries of the plant kingdom. She is a deva; this is a Sanskrit term meaning “shining one,” and she is a personification of the natural forces that underlie the natural world.
She is a supernatural being that takes corporeal anthropomorphic form as a beautiful woman.
In this card, she is standing in a sacred grove of Floripondio plants (Brugmansia suaveolens) with their distinctive trumpet-shaped flowers. This plant has many names: it is known locally as toé and tomapende, and in our culture it is known as “Angel’s Trumpet.”
