Description
Yacu caballo The Water Horse
Water horses lives around cliff edges and large pools on certain rivers where people rarely venture. They come in many colours; black, red, white and pink, and are inclined to jump and skip around restlessly. The yacu caballo are employed by shamans to journey under water, reaching great depths and passing through tunnels to where the pink dolphin lives.
These highly intelligent horses can give warning when a river is going to change its course and possibly flood a village. This happened in the case of Caballococha, a town on the Amazon near the Colombian border which has since disappeared.
